This three blends of tea were made for tea lovers, as well as new tea lovers who need different amount of caffeine during the day. The three blends bring different flavors to wake you up, give a midday boost or soothes you after a long day.

What does exploring the push and pull between the modern and traditional Iranian design look like?
This project explores the tension between traditional Iranian visual culture and contemporary graphic design through the packaging of three tea blends. Designed for both experienced tea drinkers and new audiences, the blends correspond to different moments of the day—morning, midday, and evening—each with a distinct caffeine level and flavor profile. Tea was chosen as the medium because of its cultural significance in Iran and its familiarity across cultures.

Method & Concept
The process started with a strong vision and a complex question. How to blend the traditional Iranian visuals with the modern look and feel? Iranian culture has an ancient and rich history, and as a practice Iranian designer take heavy inspiration from their cultural history. Visuals are taken and modernized, but still keep their original Iranian look and feel. This was the practice and method I wanted to take on.
This question very quickly evolved to be "How does the rich visual history of Iran can exist onto a packaging that is familiar to Iranians and yet connect with non-Iranian audiences?"

This board explores traditional Iranian design, with strong Iranian motifs and a maximalist approach with patterns, textures and typographic elements. More of a nostalgic feel, better suited to the target audience.
Mood Board 1

Mood Board 2
This board explores a more modern and minimalist approach, using strong typographic elements. Not just familiar to the target audience but a wider audience as well.

Initial Sketches & Visualization
The top Images from left to right show my initial sketches and ideas, then bringing that to a realistic product size. Lastly the Image on the right shows a motif that all of the older generation had on their school notebooks, therefore is very familiar and nostalgic to them.
The two images above show my two moldboards that I made, with the top one exploring traditional Iranian design and the bottom exploring modern design.
At first it was difficult choosing which direction to take, therefore I decided on something in the middle, taking elements from each.

Exploration with Focus & Guidance
With the guidance and focus provided by my mentor Jamie, I was able to bring the concepts and ideas into visuals. Then exploring the technical details of the project, such as the typography and placement.
